Garlic Pak Choi Stir Fry Recipe

Those that know me, will know I absolutely love garlic! I don’t believe there is such a thing as too much… but some may disagree so when making this dish, adapt it to your preferences.

This can be whipped up in 20mins, making it a perfect addition to any meal especially if you’re short on time.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 Cloves of garlic
  • 1-2 Shallots
  • 1-2 tbsp Oyster sauce (you can use the vegan version if you prefer)
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 2-3 Pak Choi’s will feed approx. 2 people
  • 1-2 tsp Water (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Sprinkle of pepper
  • Sprinkle of garlic salt

Method

  1. Using a sharp knife mince the garlic and shallots.
  2. Separate the Pak Choi leaves by cutting the root off (there are different ways to cut Pak Choi’s, let me know in the comments if you’d like a post on this 🙂 ). Each leaf will need to be washed thoroughly with cold water as dirt can get into the various layers.
  3. Place a large pan on a medium-high heat. If you have a gas stove, it will heat up much quicker (1-2 minutes) and longer if using an electric hob.
  4. Add the oil to the pan and turn the heat down to medium. Swirl the oil round the pan so that it’s fully coated. If the pan is heated enough, it’ll be easier to swirl the oil. However, if the oil starts smoking, the pan is too hot. Immediately remove the pan from the heat and leave to cool for a few minutes – please be careful when handling hot oil!
  5. Fry the garlic and shallots until slightly brown, stirring constantly.
  6. Add the Pak Choi and mix it with the garlic and shallots.
  7. After about 2-3mins, add the salt, pepper, garlic salt and Oyster sauce, and stir thoroughly.
  8. Cover the pan for 1-2mins to allow the steam to cook the Pak Choi. Depending on whether you like it soft or crunchy, you can eave it covered for longer.
  9. If the sauce is a little thick, add a drop or 2 of water and mix well.

Now you’re ready to serve it up and enjoy!
